On September 12, 2012 McDonald's announced that they have begun providing the calories for their foods on their restaurant and drive-thru menu boards. This puts them ahead of being required to do so by a soon-to-be-implemented Federal regulation contained within the healthcare Affordable Care Act. McDonalds also announced at this press conference their first Nutrition Progress Report, which is intended to regularly provide insights on how McDonalds is doing to offer consumers more nutritious choices. Warshaw was asked by diaTribe, a leading newsletter for the diabetes industry and people with diabetes, to comment on this move by McDonalds.
