A topic near and dear to my heart is the prevention of type 2 diabetes or slowing down the progression from prediabetes to type 2 diabetes. I wrote this commentary for Today’s Dietitian to inform registered dietitians (and others who read this) about the history of research on diabetes prevention over the last 30+ years, the initiation and evolution of the CDC National Diabetes Prevention Program and the recent launch of the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program.  And, importantly, to encourage them to engage in this effort to stem the tide of type 2 diabetes.
